Ok, first, let me just say, Eli totally gets this Halloween thing. It’s all about the spoils.
Unlike last year, when he was too sick to even get in his costume, let alone trick-or-treat, this year Eli got dressed up in his little elephant outfit like a champ. (He has a stuffed elephant that he sleeps with every night and he’s really good at saying the word “eh-phant,” so we thought it was the perfect outfit.) We trick-or-treated at about six houses, just so he could get the measure of things. It was, in a word, adorable:
And he wasn’t even scared! He marched right up to those doors, knocked, and round about the second house, when he realized that these strangers were simply handing him candy, he realized this was just about the best day ever. We let him eat one Reese’s peanut butter cup (only the best for our little elephant):
And he went to bed pretty happy. All in all, I think we’ll consider this the “first” Halloween, and it was pretty darned great. See the rest of the Halloween pictures here.
UPDATE: Here are Maureen’s pictures, which have some stupendously cute shots, including chocolate on the face and Eli greeting other trick-or-treaters.
