Oh, ok, not true. I just needed a reason for this long absence. In week 13, we failed to take many pictures, mostly because Eli was wanting to be held almost always but otherwise unremarkably sweet and adorable, other than his growing hatred for the car. In week 14, that hatred reached almost epic proportions–to the extent that I actually decided we should just get him a new car, because clearly the sporty, jolting suspension of the BMW X3 was to blame. I still think there’s something to that. We’re driving around in the Golf this week, and I think he likes it a lot better. (Or, uh, he’s growing out of hating the car. Hard to say.) So, here are some of the things that happened in week 14.
Eli started to look a lot like daddy:
He met his uncle Seth, and they got along like gangbusters:
He attended his very last official moms’ group meeting:
He test-drove some new toys:
And picked a winner:
He grew more angel-fuzz:
And started to play with toys like a big boy:
In other news, it’s a growth-spurt week, so he’s pretty much just eating, farting, sleeping, fussing, and repeating the whole cycle about every two hours. But he’ll probably come out the other side with the ability to roll over, sleep 10 hours, love the car, digest milk with aplomb, and never cry. That’s what happens, right?
We’ve also been looking for childcare for Eli, as my back-to-work date approaches (July 9). So, as you can imagine, all new heights of anxiety have invaded the house. I think we may end up sharing a nanny with a nice family that feels like a mirror image of us, with an adorable little girl named Olivia who’s a month older than Eli. They’ve met several times this week, and everyone seems to get along great. I’d show you pictures, but that’s week 15 stuff, and you’re just not there yet.
