Eli: Month six

Eli turned six months old on September 2, and he is right on schedule! He’s followed up rolling with, well, rolling the other way. He can now sit up (when placed in a sitting position) almost completely unassisted — there are still periodic lurches backward and to the side when he forgets that he’s sitting up and tries to play. And he’s been eating solid foods! We started with a little bit of avocado, have moved on to rice cereal, and are going to try out something like sweet potato or banana next. Eli also sits happily in his big-boy chair:

We just got back from a trip to North Dakota for Grandma Linda’s wedding, where Eli went swimming for the first time in his awesome swim diaper:

He took a well-padded ride in his new wagon, which is actually the same wagon I had when I was a little girl, which my uncle Marvin bought for me 30 years ago and has been storing ever since (how cool is that!?). He restored it and brought it to Bismarck as “Eli’s ride”:

He engaged in general cute-itude, such as:

We all had a fabulous time at Grandma Linda’s wedding, on the riverboat cruising the Missouri River. Eli got lots of lovin’ from several other grandmas, in addition to his own. He also donned his first tuxedo, which started out ok:

Started to try his patience:

Eli rejects the clip-on tie

And finally generated outright fury:

Eli hates tuxedos

We got him out of it right quick after the ceremony, put him back in his onesie, looped a bow-tie around his neck and let him be the drunk-and-disheveled dude at the wedding party:

Much better than the tux

Much better!
