Eli has amazing powers of pronunciation. He can be incredibly precise in his little sentences, like this morning’s “I want my blanket” and his most complicated sentence yet: “I want to wash that.” (Seriously. He’s pretty amazing in the talking department.) He tries words over and over until he says them just right. But I still get the biggest kick out of the funny things he mis-pronounces. For example, “sausage” is always “sa-doot.” “TV” is “tee-boo.” Cheerios are “jujoes,” and the other day when I handed him a bowl of Cheerios he excitedly proclaimed: “Yow, it’s the jujoes!” He’s working hard on “fork” and “sit,” but right now they just come out as, you know. Cuss words. Hilarious.
But this is my new favorite: Eli has his little daycare friends, and he says all their names just fine — Brandon, Mai-Mai (Madeleine), Marco. His best friend, though, is Caleb, and you can tell Eli likes him best, because Caleb gets a rapper name. Instead of calling him “Caleb,” Eli calls him, “K-Beep.” Today I asked him if he was going to roll with Caleb when he got to daycare and he said, “roll K-Beep.” Awesome. I love talking.
